Drones and conspiracies

I wouldn’t ordinarily post something like this on the blog, but it was too long for Twitter. The most creative conspiracy theory I’ve heard in the past few days is that the US “lost” the RQ-170 Sentinel drone in Iran on purpose in order to provoke heightened Iranian air defense, thus deterring Israel from executing any airstrikes and potentially lighting the whole Middle East ablaze. An interesting if crackpot theory, but I believe Occam’s razor (or perhaps even Hanlon’s razor) applies in this case.
